this mix is a story.. a progression of sentiments and moods experienced upon returning to my hometown, los angeles, leading up to the point where i am now, ready to leave again. like most of my mixes, its a bipolar one, mixed with nostalgia for my hometown, lament over lost ones, anger and boredom, while in the end finding solace as it travels further east.

This mix contains every genre tag on this blog so it should be interesting, it marks the end of one era and the beginning of another, as mixes sometimes do. And i didn't make it for anyone once again but it definitely has people in mind, those that inspire, and those that cause pain.. and then the ones that do both.

Just watched It Might Get Loud.. the part about Jack White was by far my favorite, especially when he spoke about the influence of Son House in his music.

Although he looks as if he should be singing for disney, twenty two year old scottish singer/musician Paolo Nutini has the voice of a fourty something year old soul legend. Below are four videos that encompass his versatility in genre: the first a soulful pop song, the second an upbeat ska/reggae piece, the third a jammin blues track, and the fourth a melancholy ballad. All of these songs can be found on his album, Sunny Side Up, one of my favorites this year. Thanks my dear bff Laya for giving me this album.

i like it more than my other mixes because i didn't have anyone in mind while making it. and i am so happy i found the link wray cd i thought only existed on vinyl so there's a little overdose of that as well as 100dbs overdose because its better than all the other hip hop out there at the moment; plus if you listen to all nine minutes of track 4 you get a special surprise somewhere near the end. pure nostalgia, and a tribute to all music !!

Homeboy 100dbs just put out his second album. I completely forgot about this and am purchasing it online as we speak. Brenner's Breaks 2 is available for download here. If you loved his other stuff be sure to get this, and if you haven't checked him out, you will love it! Trust me.
