the oscar live-action short that should have won:

In light of the Oscar nominations being announced, I'm posting some oscar nominated animated shorts of 2009. I think I already posted the pixar ones, which are great.. but these are really creatively animated and the first one (La Maison en Petits Cubes) won best animated short last year. The second short was a runner-up but totally deserved to be nominated. (Thanks Lonnie for finding it). Just a reminder that there's more to the Oscars than Avatar and Hurt Locker (ps hello most overrated films of the year). Hopefully independent theaters in your area will be screening the animated/live-action shorts as they did in mine last year and I highly recommend you go see them!

i got an impromptu invitation to go see nosaj thing do his audio visual performance at the downtown independent. needless to say, it blew my mind to bits and pieces, i couldn't even react until a while after it had ended. a combination of sick beats and synchronized mind altering visuals = my idea of heaven.
